The medical team in the Urology Department, in particular the specialist nurses, thought there was a need for a support group to help men and their families cope with prostate cancer. Therefore the Norfolk and Waveney Prostate Cancer Support Group was set up.
The first meeting was organised for the 5th April 2004 to which about 70 people attended in total. A committee was formed and a current list of officers and committee members can be found here. Bi-monthly meetings are held in the Benjamin Gooch Lecture Theatre in the East Atrium of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, or in the Big ‘C’ centre adjoining the hospital, or in the the Louise Hamilton Centre adjacent to the James Paget University Hospital at Gorleston and are open to all.
